ADHD & AUTISM ASSESSMENTS
There are plenty of reasons why you may be seeking an evaluation for ADHD and/or Autism- perhaps to know yourself better, to get a letter for accommodations for work or school, to better understand challenges that you face... Any and all of these reasons are valid.
My approach to ADHD and Autism Assessments comes from a place of lived experience as a neurodivergent human. I am acutely familiar with the complexities of receiving a diagnosis when you’ve been misunderstood by professionals, or haven’t met criteria based on outdated assessment instruments that are meant to identify ADHD and Autism based on how it presents in a specific demographic.
My assessment methods take things like masking, assimilating, camouflaging, and compensating strategies into consideration to ensure I’m getting a full picture of the ways in which neurodivergent people are navigating a world that’s built for neurotypicals. The most important aspect of these evaluations is that I am prioritizing your lived experience.
What can i expect?
After you submit a contact form, we’ll set up a brief call to answer any questions you may have, and set dates for the clinical interview (two 90-minute appointments).
I will send you a consent form, history form, and several self-assessment forms - all to be completed prior to the interview.
Interviews - we’ll meet (twice) and have conversations around challenges that you face , how long they’ve been going on for, and I will collect information about your social life and history, medical, family history, personality, information and sensory processing, mood, and more.
I will score all self-assessment measures and review the information from the interviews to determine a diagnosis, and write a report with my findings.
We will schedule a 50-minute feedback session to explore the report I wrote, line by line, to explain how I determined the diagnosis, to answer clarifying questions from you, and to ensure that it makes sense to you. This is a collaborative process where you can also share if any aspects of the report don’t represent your experience, if you want to clarify what something you said meant, etc.
After the feedback session, I will complete the diagnostic report and send it to you, along with a letter with recommendations for accommodations, referrals, and resources.
What is the cost?
Pricing is calculated based on the 3-hour clinical interview; 2 hours for report writing and assessment scoring; and a 1 hour feedback session.
Pricing structure is based on income, and can range anywhere from $490-2,100, as outlined below. The structure incorporates cost-sharing, which allows people with access to more financial resources to offset some of the cost for people with less access to financial resources.
Given that I am an out-of-network provider, I can provide a superbill to submit to insurance; and I can also offer payment plans to split payments up into smaller amounts at a time, if that is more feasible for you.
If you aren’t sure whether you have out-of-network benefits, you can call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask. If they want a CPT code, the codes are 90791 and 96130.
How do I know if this is right for me?
This depends on the reason you are seeking assessment. If your reason is to better understand yourself and get resources and referrals for your diagnosis, we are likely a good fit for one another.
If you need an accommodation letter for school or for work, you will first want to ask your workplace or your school what specific documentation they need before we start the assessment process.
Whether or not a psychiatrist or Psychiatric NP will accept an assessment depends on the provider. If you already have a psychiatrist, ask them what type of assessment they’d be comfortable with in order to incorporate a new diagnosis. If you don’t have a psychiatrist, I am happy to offer a list of affirming providers.
